Xirgo is a global leader in fleet vehicle telematics, designing and developing its hardware entirely in-house to serve commercial, government, construction, transportation, and municipal fleets across North America and internationally. The Xirgo portfolio spans vehicle trackers, AI-powered video telematics, multicam DVR systems, asset trackers, solar trackers, and cargo and container monitoring, creating a modular IoT ecosystem that provides fleets with complete visibility across every vehicle, driver, and asset they operate.

Orbital Installation Technologies is an experienced Xirgo installation partner with an in-house team of certified technicians ready to deploy the full Xirgo hardware lineup across fleets of any size, vehicle type, and operational environment. From plug-and-play OBD-II trackers on light-duty vehicles to hardwired LX40 telematics platforms on Class 8 trucks, AI dash cam installations, multicam DVR systems on transit and specialty vehicles, and rugged asset trackers on unpowered equipment, Orbital handles the hardware, so your Xirgo investment delivers from day one.

What Professional Xirgo Installation Enables

Xirgo’s platform is built to give fleet operators real-time visibility into vehicle location, driver behavior, cargo condition, and asset status — all from a modular IoT ecosystem that scales to the complexity of the operation. The data that feeds that ecosystem is only as reliable as the hardware producing it. A device that’s incorrectly wired, improperly mounted, or inadequately validated introduces GPS gaps, missed diagnostic data, camera blind spots, and cellular dropouts, undermining everything built on top of it.

Professional installation by Orbital protects the integrity of the full Xirgo program:

  • Real-time GPS fleet tracking with geofencing, trip history, and vehicle location across light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles and commercial equipment
  • Driver behavior monitoring including harsh braking, acceleration, cornering, speeding, and seatbelt detection via onboard accelerometer and JBUS/OBD diagnostics
  • AI-powered video telematics with road-facing and driver-facing coverage, ADAS alerts, and real-time driver distraction and fatigue detection
  • Multicam DVR recording with up to eight camera inputs and in-cab LCD monitor support for near 360-degree vehicle coverage
  • Engine diagnostics via OBD-II and CANBUS integration, including PID data, fault codes, fuel consumption, engine hours, and vehicle condition monitoring
  • Asset tracking across powered and unpowered equipment with motion-based alerts, geofencing, and extended battery life for set-and-forget deployments
  • Solar-powered tracking for outdoor assets requiring regular location updates without battery management
  • Cargo and container monitoring with real-time cargo sensing, door status alerts, temperature monitoring, and thumbnail image capture inside the trailer
  • AI-assisted event review — with a human in the loop — to filter noise and surface the driver behavior data that actually drives coaching decisions
  • Over-the-air firmware updates and remote device management across the full device fleet

Hardware installed correctly feeds the Xirgo platform clean, reliable data from the start. Poor installations create gaps and errors that are hard to trace and even harder to fix once a fleet program is underway.

Installation of the Xirgo Hardware Lineup

Orbital’s certified technicians are trained across the full Xirgo hardware family — vehicle telematics, video telematics, multicam systems, and asset telematics. Each category installs differently, connects differently, and requires its own validation before it’s ready to feed reliable data into the platform.

Vehicle Trackers: XT24, XT25, XT63, and LX40 Series

Xirgo’s vehicle tracker lineup spans from compact, plug-and-play OBD devices to enterprise-grade, hardwired platforms. The XT24 and XT25 are OBD-II plug-and-play units covering light- and heavy-duty applications — fast to deploy, but still requiring proper bracket mounting and device registration to ensure reliable, continuous reporting. The XT63 is Xirgo’s hardwired device for configurable enterprise tracking, with a broad I/O ecosystem and JBUS protocol support across vehicle types. The LX40 is Xirgo’s most advanced telematics platform, with five product variants, deep CANBUS data, and a scripting language supporting over 500 controllable parameters. The LX40’s configurability means installation planning, including harness selection, CANBUS interface configuration, I/O mapping, is as important as the installation itself.

Video Telematics: KP2 AI Camera

The KP2 is Xirgo’s modular AI dash cam with road-facing HD recording, ADAS, and a snap-on driver-facing camera module for distraction and fatigue detection. Xirgo markets it as plug-and-play, but for fleet programs, hardwired power integration, precise windshield mounting, and post-install validation of AI alert functionality are required. A KP2 that’s misaligned or poorly mounted degrades ADAS performance as the system can only detect what the camera is actually pointed at.

Multicam Platforms: CP4S and CRX-S

The CP4S supports up to four cameras with in-cab LCD monitor integration and up to 1TB of storage. The CRX-S steps up to eight camera inputs, 1080p HD, up to 2TB SSD storage, and ruggedized construction for heavy commercial vehicles. Both platforms support Xirgo’s full auxiliary camera lineup — driver-facing, side-mount, rear backup, wide-angle road, weatherproof exterior, and mini-dome interior cameras. Each camera requires individual positioning and field-of-view validation. A multi-camera system is only complete when every angle is confirmed at sign-off.

Asset Trackers: XT21, XT45, XT53, and XT49 Solar Series

Xirgo’s asset tracker lineup covers a wide range of unpowered asset applications — from cost-effective basic location monitoring on the XT21 to the IP67-rated XT45 for harsh field environments, the ultra-compact XT53 with up to seven years of battery life for long-term or covert deployments, and the solar-harvesting XT49 for remote assets where battery replacement isn’t practical. Every tracker requires physical mounting, device registration, and connectivity validation at install time, regardless of how simple the deployment looks on paper.

Cargo and Container Telematics: XT31 and XT47 Series

The XT31 is Xirgo’s industrial IoT gateway for trailers and containers, combining cellular, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, dual CAN buses, cargo-sensing cameras, and optional door sensors to deliver visibility into what’s happening inside the trailer. The XT47 covers high-value powered remote assets, including generators, construction machinery, and specialty equipment, where external power availability varies. Both devices require proper power integration and post-install validation before deployment.

Why Hardwired Installation Matters for Xirgo

Xirgo’s vehicle telematics lineup includes genuine plug-and-play options — the XT24 and XT25 are designed for fast OBD-II deployment, and the KP2 is marketed as self-installable. For enterprise and government programs, accessible devices carry a risk that hardwired installations don’t. A device plugged into the OBD port can be pulled out by a driver, intentionally or otherwise, immediately cutting off GPS visibility, driver behavior data, and any video coverage. At the program level, that’s a gap in accountability.

Orbital integrates Xirgo vehicle telematics hardware directly into the vehicle’s electrical system using OEM-safe wiring practices and correct fusing for each vehicle make and model. Devices are mounted securely, cables are routed to protect vehicle systems and warranties, and JBUS or OBD interfaces are confirmed before the vehicle leaves the bay. For KP2, CP4S, and CRX-S camera installations, mounting precision directly affects what the AI and the recording system can actually see. Orbital’s post-install QC process includes an AI-assisted photo review, with a human reviewer in the loop, validating camera positioning and field of view on every vehicle before sign-off.

Multicam and Complex System Deployments

For fleets deploying the CP4S or CRX-S with multiple auxiliary cameras — buses, tractor-trailers, waste trucks, utility vehicles, specialty equipment — installation complexity scales with the number of camera inputs and the vehicle configuration. Each camera requires individual cable routing, correct exterior or interior mounting for its designated field of view, DVR connection, and post-install validation confirming video feed quality and recording functionality before the system is signed off.

Orbital manages multicam deployments as structured, vehicle-specific installations with pre-deployment planning for camera placement, cable routing, and LCD monitor integration. Every camera angle is validated individually. A near-360-degree coverage system is complete only when every angle is confirmed.

TaskRaptor: Deployment Governance Across Every Vehicle and Asset

Xirgo’s hardware lineup covers more device categories than most telematics platforms, including vehicle trackers, AI cameras, multicam DVRs, asset trackers, solar trackers, and cargo sensors. Each category installs differently and validates differently. Inconsistency across any of them shows up as missing or unreliable data in the platform, and at fleet scale, small gaps compound quickly. Orbital governs every installation through TaskRaptor, its proprietary deployment platform built to bring structure and accountability to large, multi-device rollouts.

TaskRaptor tracks every step of the installation workflow in real time, with GPS-stamped, photo-verified proof of work for each completed vehicle and asset. An AI-assisted QC review process — with a human in the loop — flags issues before vehicles are signed off, not after. All job data flows into customer back-office systems through RESTful APIs, giving fleet managers and program administrators a complete deployment record across every device type in the program.

A consistent process for every vehicle and asset:

  • Pre-deployment fleet assessment and hardware verification across device categories
  • Vehicle and asset-specific installation planning, including JBUS/OBD interface selection, camera positioning, multicam cable routing, and harness selection for LX40 deployments
  • Secure mounting and electrical integration that protects vehicle systems and warranties
  • Device registration, cellular connectivity confirmation, GPS lock validation, and platform communication verification
  • AI-assisted QC photo review with human sign-off on camera positioning before vehicles are cleared
  • Vehicles and assets returned to service only after successful validation — not before
