/

Netradyne is a leader in AI-powered fleet camera systems, trusted by commercial, government, and transit fleets across North America and internationally. The Driver•i platform uses edge computing and vision-based artificial intelligence to analyze 100% of drive time and not just triggered events, delivering a more complete, more accurate picture of driver behavior than traditional dash cam systems. But that level of AI precision depends entirely on hardware that’s installed and positioned correctly.

Orbital Installation Technologies is an experienced Netradyne installation partner with an in-house team of certified technicians ready to deploy the full Driver•i lineup across fleets of any size, vehicle type, and operational environment. From dual-camera D-215 installs on light-duty service vans to quad-camera D-450 deployments with Driver•i Hub-X on Class 8 trucks, Orbital handles the hardware so your Netradyne investment performs the way it’s designed to from the first mile.

What Professional Netradyne Installation Enables

The Driver•i platform is built on a core premise: analyze everything, surface what matters, and give drivers the feedback they need to improve. The AI that makes that possible — processing video on the device, detecting risk in real time, generating GreenZone Scores, and sending in-cab audio alerts — operates within the physical constraints of how the camera is mounted. An installation that’s off-axis, loosely secured, or incorrectly wired doesn’t just affect video quality; it also compromises safety and the AI’s ability to do its job. Professional installation by Orbital protects the integrity of the whole program:

  • Road-facing and driver-facing 1080p HD video capturing 100% of drive time at 30fps, with up to 200 hours of onboard storage
  • Vision-based AI detection of unsafe following distance, traffic signal and stop sign infractions, lane departures, distracted driving, seatbelt non-compliance, and speeding
  • Real-time in-cab audio alerts that prompt driver self-correction in the moment, before a risky situation becomes a reportable incident
  • GreenZone Scoring that reflects both risky and positive driving behavior — giving drivers a reason to engage with the safety program, not resist it
  • AI-assisted event review with a human in the loop, surfacing the incidents that matter and filtering the noise that wastes safety managers’ time
  • Edge computing that processes video directly on the device, reducing data costs while ensuring alerts happen in real time without cloud dependency
  • Driver•i Mobile App connectivity for driver self-coaching, GreenZone Score visibility, and fleet manager coaching workflows
  • Optional Driver Monitoring System (DMS) sensor integration for enhanced drowsy driving detection on the D-450
  • Expandable coverage via Driver•i Hub-X, adding up to four auxiliary cameras for 360-degree visibility on larger vehicles
  • Privacy-mode options allowing driver behavior analysis without recording inside the cab, where fleet policy or regulation requires it

Devices installed correctly produce the accurate, high-confidence data the Driver•i platform is built to deliver. Devices installed incorrectly produce degraded video, missed AI detections, and a coaching program built on a foundation that can’t be trusted.

Installation of the Netradyne Driver•i Hardware Lineup

Orbital’s certified technicians are trained across the current Netradyne Driver•i device family. Each model has distinct physical installation requirements and connection dependencies that have to be handled correctly for the AI to function as designed.

Driver•i D-450

The D-450 is Netradyne’s flagship enterprise camera system and the most capable device in the lineup. It integrates four cameras into a single windshield-mounted unit — a 1080p road-facing camera, a 1080p driver-facing camera, and two 720p side cameras — for a 270-degree field of view at 30 fps. Powered by an NVIDIA Jetson TX2 processor, the D-450 delivers up to 99% AI alert accuracy and supports the full Driver•i feature set, including GreenZone Scoring, compound alerts, and DriverStar positive reinforcement. An external cellular module optimizes global connectivity, and the device is expandable with the DMS drowsiness detection sensor for enhanced fatigue monitoring.

Installation of the D-450 involves hardwired power integration via J1939, J1708, or OBD-II adapter cables, depending on vehicle type; precise windshield mounting for optimal camera alignment; GPS module placement for clear sky view; and system verification through the Netradyne Installer App. The quad-camera configuration means every lens angle must be validated individually because a single camera that’s even slightly off changes the field of view the AI is working from.

Driver•i D-215

The D-215 is Netradyne’s dual-camera device, combining a 1080p road-facing and a 1080p driver-facing camera in a compact form factor suited to light- and medium-duty vehicles. It delivers the same vision-based AI and GreenZone Score capability as the D-450, with an embedded cellular module optimized for North America. The D-215 is the device of choice for mixed or smaller commercial fleets that need the full analytical depth of the Driver•i platform without the footprint of the quad-camera system. Like the D-450, it supports Driver•i Hub-X for auxiliary camera expansion.

Driver•i D-211

The D-211 is Netradyne’s single-camera, road-facing device, designed for fleets with heightened driver privacy requirements or operational contexts where a forward-only view is the appropriate starting point. It runs the same AI engine as the rest of the lineup, analyzing 100% of drive time, detecting external risk events, and generating GreenZone data, without the inward-facing camera. The D-211 is a purpose-built option for fleets that need to balance safety program goals with driver privacy commitments.

Driver•i Hub-X

The Driver•i Hub-X is Netradyne’s auxiliary camera expansion system, compatible with both the D-215 and D-450. It supports up to four external cameras, including side-, rear-, and interior-facing cameras, plus an in-cab monitor for real-time driver visibility. Typical Hub-X deployments include buses, tractor-trailers, box trucks, and garbage trucks, as well as any vehicle where blind spots pose a meaningful liability. Hub-X also includes additional storage to accommodate external camera views and low-power wake-up for accessing footage while the vehicle is in standby. A Hub-X deployment adds installation complexity as each camera requires its own positioning, cabling, and validation before the full system is signed off.

DMS Sensor (D-450 Accessory)

The DMS sensor is a dedicated drowsy-driving detection accessory for the D-450, measuring microsleeps through eye-closure patterns, blink measurements, and percent eye closure over time, using scientific methods validated for nighttime use and compatible with most sunglasses. DMS sensor installation requires proper positioning relative to the driver’s face and confirmed pairing with the D-450 before deployment. A sensor that’s angled incorrectly will miss the detection events it was installed to catch.

Why Hardwired Installation Is Non-Negotiable for Netradyne

The Driver•i platform is a vision-based AI system. The Driver•i platform delivers up to 99% alert precision by analyzing 100% of drive time. Both numbers depend on consistent, uninterrupted power and a camera that stays exactly where it was installed. That combination of requirements makes installation quality more consequential for Netradyne than for simpler event-triggered cameras.

Orbital integrates Driver•i hardware directly into the vehicle’s electrical system using vehicle-specific adapter cables, including J1939 for heavy-duty, J1708 for legacy commercial, OBD-II for light-duty, with properly fused constant and switched ignition power connections. Devices are mounted with 3M VHB tape, positioned precisely per Netradyne’s specified alignment standards, and verified through the Netradyne Installer App before the vehicle is cleared. Camera view streaming through the Installer App confirms the field of view is correct at the time of installation.

After every installation, Orbital’s AI-assisted QC review process, with a human reviewer in the loop, validates mounting photos against Netradyne’s alignment standards. A camera that’s drifted from the correct angle doesn’t just affect video quality; it also affects the overall image. What the AI sees determines what it detects, and what it detects drives the coaching program. Getting the installation right is the only way to protect that chain.

Multi-Camera and Hub-X Deployments

For fleets deploying the D-450 with Driver•i Hub-X — buses, tractor-trailers, construction vehicles, waste trucks, and other large or high-risk vehicles — installation complexity scales with the number of cameras. Each auxiliary camera requires individual cable routing, secure mounting at the correct angle for its designated field of view, and post-install validation confirming video feed and connectivity before the full system is signed off.

Orbital manages Hub-X deployments as structured, multi-step installations with vehicle-specific planning for camera placement, cable routing that protects vehicle systems and warranties, and complete system validation through the Netradyne Installer App before the vehicle returns to service. A 360-degree safety program is only complete when every angle is actually covered.

TaskRaptor: Deployment Governance Across Every Vehicle

Netradyne’s AI is only as consistent as the installations behind it. One vehicle with a misaligned camera, a loose mount, or an unconfirmed GPS module placement is a gap in the program, and across a large fleet, those gaps compound. Orbital governs every installation through TaskRaptor, its proprietary deployment platform built to bring structure and accountability to fleet hardware rollouts at scale.

TaskRaptor tracks every step of the installation workflow in real time, with GPS-stamped, photo-verified proof of work for each completed vehicle. An AI-assisted QC review process — with a human in the loop — flags issues before vehicles are signed off, not after. All job data flows into customer back-office systems via RESTful APIs, giving fleet safety managers and program administrators a complete, timestamped deployment record that holds up when needed.

A consistent process for every vehicle:

  • Pre-deployment fleet assessment and hardware verification
  • Vehicle-specific installation planning, including ECM interface selection, camera positioning, and Hub-X auxiliary camera configuration
  • Hardwired power integration with vehicle-specific adapter cables and proper fusing
  • Windshield mounting and GPS module placement per Netradyne specifications
  • System verification and camera view validation through the Netradyne Installer App
  • AI-assisted QC review with human sign-off confirming alignment before the vehicle is cleared
  • Vehicles returned to service only after full system validation — not before
