Professional Geometris Installation for Fleets

/

/

Geometris is a US-based manufacturer of purpose-built GPS and telematics hardware trusted by commercial, government, and transit fleets across North America. The whereQube family of devices—designed for vehicle tracking, engine diagnostics, ELD compliance, and asset monitoring—delivers accurate, reliable fleet data, but only when the hardware is installed and configured correctly. Orbital Installation Technologies is an experienced Geometris installation partner with an in-house team of certified technicians ready to deploy the full whereQube lineup across fleets of any size, vehicle type, and operational environment.

From the whereQube AVL and OBD series to the FMCSA-certified whereQube ENG platform, Orbital handles the hardware side so your Geometris investment delivers what it’s supposed to—on day one and every day after.

What Professional Geometris Installation Enables

The Geometris whereQube platform is built to give fleet operators real-time visibility, engine-level diagnostics, and FMCSA-compliant ELD logging across light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles. Getting that value out of the hardware depends entirely on how it goes in. Professional installation by Orbital unlocks the full capability of the platform:

  • Real-time GPS tracking with continuous location updates and vehicle journey reporting
  • Engine diagnostics via direct CAN bus and OBD integration, including fault codes, engine hours, VIN, speed, and RPM
  • FMCSA-certified ELD compliance for hours-of-service logging on both light-duty and heavy-duty trucks
  • Driver behavior monitoring, including harsh braking, acceleration, and idling events
  • Geofencing with automated alerts for zone entry, exit, and unauthorized vehicle movement
  • Asset tracking across powered and unpowered fleet equipment
  • Wireless firmware updates and remote device management
  • Integration with leading fleet management platforms via open API

Devices that are installed correctly produce accurate, reliable data from day one. Substandard installations introduce GPS gaps, engine data errors, ELD failures, and connectivity issues that undermine compliance and compromise platform value.

The Geometris whereQube Hardware Lineup

Orbital’s in-house team of certified technicians is trained across the full Geometris whereQube product family.

whereQube AVL™

The whereQube AVL is a hardwired, in-vehicle telematics unit built for fleets that need continuous, configurable tracking. It supports customizable reporting intervals, power conservation profiles, and comprehensive journey reporting based on time, distance, and direction of travel. The AVL also reports vehicle starts and stops, GPS signal loss, low battery, and input state changes—making it well suited to mixed fleets where visibility and uptime are non-negotiable.

whereQube OBD Series (OBD 87, OBD 87S, OBD 88, OBD 96)

The whereQube OBD family delivers real-time engine diagnostics and GPS tracking through direct OBD-II integration, with LTE connectivity, internal battery backup, Bluetooth LE, and CAN bus support. These devices are built to monitor and act on engine data in real time—not just record location—making them a powerful option for fleets that need maintenance visibility alongside tracking. Each model in the series supports wireless firmware updates and is compatible with both Android and iOS fleet applications.

whereQube ENG™ (8X and 80 Series)

The whereQube ENG is Geometris’s FMCSA-certified ELD hardware platform. The 8X Series is designed for heavy-duty trucks, supporting engine bus data on SAE J1939 and SAE J1708 standards—capturing VIN, engine on/off, speed, engine hours, and RPM for FMCSA hours-of-service compliance. The 80 Series is designed for light-duty trucks, delivering OBD-II-based diagnostics to SAE J1962 standards. Both series use Bluetooth LE for simple pairing with Android and iOS ELD applications.

Hardwired Installation Considerations

Geometris whereQube OBD devices support plug-in deployment, but for enterprise and government fleets where compliance, data continuity, and program integrity are operational requirements, loose OBD-II connections create real risk. Devices plugged into the OBD port are accessible to drivers and can be unplugged—intentionally or not. When a device goes offline, the fleet loses GPS visibility, engine diagnostics, ELD logging, and geofencing coverage immediately.

Orbital eliminates that risk by integrating whereQube hardware directly into the vehicle’s electrical system using manufacturer-approved cable harnesses and OEM-safe installation methods. Devices are securely mounted and positioned out of reach of drivers, ensuring consistent, uninterrupted data transmission and protected ELD log integrity.

FMCSA Compliance and ELD Installation

The Geometris whereQube ENG series is FMCSA-certified for electronic logging device applications, having successfully passed all 318 FMCSA tests at an independent test lab. For trucking fleets and government motor pools subject to DOT hours-of-service requirements, proper ELD hardware installation isn’t optional—it’s a compliance obligation.

Orbital’s technicians understand the installation requirements for FMCSA-certified hardware, including secure mounting, validated ECM connectivity, and confirmed data transmission to the paired ELD application before any vehicle returns to service. Every installation is documented with GPS-stamped, photo-verified proof of work through TaskRaptor, Orbital’s proprietary deployment platform.

Geometris Hardware Installation by Orbital

Orbital installs and validates the complete Geometris whereQube lineup across vehicle fleets, transit assets, and specialty equipment. Every installation is tailored to the specific requirements of the whereQube platform and each vehicle’s configuration.

whereQube AVL Installations

Orbital handles full hardwired installation of the whereQube AVL, including secure mounting, clean power integration, cable routing that protects vehicle systems and warranties, and post-install validation of GPS reporting and input/output functionality.

whereQube OBD Series Installations

For fleets deploying whereQube OBD devices, Orbital manages secure installation and validated CAN bus connectivity, confirming accurate engine data flow and GPS performance before the vehicle leaves the bay. For fleets, Orbital recommends hardwired integration over plug-in deployment to protect program integrity and meet compliance requirements.

whereQube ENG ELD Installations

Orbital installs and validates whereQube ENG hardware for FMCSA compliance, including proper ECM interface selection for heavy-duty (J1939/J1708) and light-duty (OBD-II/J1962) vehicles, Bluetooth LE pairing with the fleet’s ELD application, and confirmed data transmission at the required 3–5 second reporting interval before driver deployment.

Asset Tracking and Accessory Integration

Orbital installs battery-powered and solar-powered Geometris trackers for unpowered assets, trailers, and equipment, with full configuration and validation before deployment.

TaskRaptor: Structured Deployment and Quality Assurance

Large fleet deployments require consistent execution across every vehicle. Orbital manages this through TaskRaptor, its proprietary deployment platform that governs every technician and every installation from start to finish. TaskRaptor tracks every step of the installation process, with GPS-stamped, photo-verified proof of work for each completed asset. An AI-assisted QC review process—with a human in the loop—flags issues before vehicles are returned to service. All job data flows into customer back-office systems through RESTful APIs.

A Consistent Process for Every Vehicle

Every Orbital Geometris installation follows the same structured workflow:

  • Pre-installation fleet assessment and hardware verification
  • Vehicle-specific installation planning, including cab configuration and ECM interface selection
  • Secure mounting and electrical integration that protects vehicle systems and warranties
  • whereQube device pairing, ECM activation, and configuration validation
  • Post-install diagnostic validation confirming live GPS, engine data, and ELD connectivity
  • Vehicles returned to service only after successful validation confirms the system is communicating correctly
