EROAD is a global leader in fleet management, compliance, and safety solutions, trusted by commercial, government, construction, waste, and transportation fleets across North America. The EROAD platform brings together FMCSA-certified ELD compliance, GPS fleet tracking, AI-powered video telematics, IoT sensor monitoring, and cold chain assurance, all integrated into a single cloud-based system. The accuracy and reliability of that system start with hardware that’s installed and configured correctly.

Orbital Installation Technologies is an experienced EROAD installation partner with an in-house team of certified technicians ready to deploy the full EROAD hardware lineup across fleets of any size, vehicle type, and operational environment. From Ehubo ELD installations on heavy-duty trucks to CoreHub IoT gateway deployments on waste and construction vehicles, Clarity dashcam installations, asset tracker rollouts on trailers and equipment, and CoreHub Xtreme cold chain gateway installations on reefer trailers, Orbital handles the hardware, so your EROAD investment delivers from day one.

What Professional EROAD Installation Enables

The EROAD platform is built to give fleet operators accurate, reliable data across compliance, safety, and operations — all in one place. Each hardware device is a data source feeding that platform. A device that’s incorrectly wired, improperly mounted, or inadequately validated at installation produces incomplete or inaccurate data, undermining every decision built on it. Professional installation by Orbital protects the integrity of the full EROAD program:

  • FMCSA-certified ELD compliance with accurate hours-of-service logging, automated IFTA reporting, and DOT audit-ready records
  • Real-time GPS fleet tracking with geofencing, route history, and vehicle location across heavy-duty and light commercial vehicles
  • Engine diagnostics via direct ECM connection, including fault codes, idle time, fuel consumption, and vehicle health data
  • AI-powered video telematics with road-facing and driver-facing coverage, automated event detection, and in-cab alerts that prompt drivers to self-correct in the moment
  • IoT sensor monitoring across door alerts, PTO events, drum rotations, moisture levels, and custom inputs via CoreHub’s expandable sensor ecosystem
  • Cold chain temperature monitoring and reefer control with real-time alerts across multiple compartments via CoreHub Xtreme
  • Asset and trailer tracking with location visibility, engine hours, maintenance data, and geofence alerts across powered and unpowered equipment
  • AI-assisted event review — with a human in the loop — surfacing driver behavior incidents that warrant coaching attention and filtering the noise that doesn’t
  • Cloud-based reporting via MyEROAD with driver scorecards, safety event timelines, and compliance documentation accessible in a single portal

Hardware installed correctly feeds clean, reliable data into the EROAD platform from the start. Rushed or incorrect installations lead to ECM connection failures, GPS gaps, camera blind spots, and sensor drop-offs that compromise the program before it even gets off the ground.

Installing the EROAD Hardware Lineup

Orbital’s certified technicians are trained across the full EROAD hardware family. Each device category has distinct installation requirements, ECM interface considerations, and validation steps that have to be executed correctly for the platform to deliver.

Ehubo ELD

The Ehubo is EROAD’s purpose-built, FMCSA-certified ELD device — a ruggedized, tamper-evident in-cab unit that connects directly to the engine control module to record, store, and transmit encrypted HOS and telematics data via the cellular network. Unlike tablet-based ELD solutions, the Ehubo is a standalone device: no driver phone required, no Bluetooth dependencies, no separate components to manage. Its IP65-rated enclosure withstands temperatures from -40°F to 185°F, and its resistive touchscreen is designed for use in commercial vehicle environments.

The Ehubo connects to the ECM via J1939 or J1708 interface, depending on the vehicle, and EROAD’s own installation documentation is explicit: the quality of the ECM connection determines the quality of the data. A missed or loose ECM connection affects ELD logging and every data stream flowing through the device, including GPS, engine diagnostics, and IFTA mileage reporting. Orbital selects the correct ECM interface for each vehicle, confirms data flow during post-install validation, and verifies the device is live in EROAD’s MyEROAD platform before the vehicle returns to service.

CoreHub IoT Gateway and CoreHub Xtreme

CoreHub is EROAD’s integrated IoT gateway for transportation, waste, and construction fleets. Sitting discreetly inside the cab, CoreHub connects directly to the engine management system and supports an expandable ecosystem of wireless IoT sensors — door alerts, PTO monitoring, concrete drum rotations, water moisture levels, and more — transforming the vehicle into a connected data hub. CoreHub also supports the Drive ELD app and Clarity dashcam integration, making it the foundation for EROAD’s full platform on vehicles where the Ehubo isn’t the primary ELD device.

CoreHub Xtreme is EROAD’s next-generation ruggedized IoT gateway for cold chain and reefer operations. Built for the harsh cross-country environments reefer trailers operate in, CoreHub Xtreme delivers real-time temperature monitoring and control across multiple compartments via CoreTemp technology, with IoT sensor support for door, temperature, fuel, and humidity monitoring integrated into a single platform. For food and beverage fleets operating under FSMA compliance requirements, the CoreHub Xtreme installation must be right, as a device that’s improperly connected or incorrectly configured doesn’t just produce inaccurate temperature data; it exposes the fleet to load loss and compliance risk. Orbital installs and validates both CoreHub devices, ensuring confirmed ECM connectivity, sensor pairing, and platform communication before any vehicle or trailer returns to service.

Clarity Dashcam Family: Clarity Connected, Clarity Solo, Clarity Get, and Clarity Edge

EROAD offers a range of Clarity dashcam devices spanning integrated dual-facing cameras, standalone all-in-one units for non-regulated vehicles, and the AI-powered Clarity Edge with road-facing video, driver-facing monitoring, and fatigue detection.

EROAD’s own installation documentation makes this explicit: assuming a one-size-fits-all approach to dashcam installation is dangerous. Different cabs have different windshield angles, different configurations, and different wiper blade positions, all of which affect where the camera can be mounted and what it can actually see. For Clarity Edge specifically, a misaligned camera degrades video quality and compromises AI detection accuracy equally.  The coaching and safety program built on that data is only as reliable as the installation that supports it.

Orbital accounts for vehicle-specific cab configuration on every Clarity installation, positions each camera to EROAD’s specified alignment standards, and validates field of view and connectivity before sign-off. An AI-assisted photo review process — with a human reviewer in the loop — confirms mounting compliance before any vehicle is cleared.

Asset and Trailer Trackers: ETrack Wired and AssetTrac

ETrack Wired is EROAD’s powered asset and trailer tracker, built for tractors, trailers, and heavy equipment with available 12V or 24V power connections. An IP66-rated weatherproof enclosure, internal GPS and cellular antennas, built-in accelerometer, and 4G connectivity deliver accurate location, engine hours, and activity data into the MyEROAD platform. EROAD’s own documentation recommends installation by a suitably qualified technician, as proper mounting orientation, correct power source connection, and outdoor GPS registration are all required for the device to report accurately.

AssetTrac is EROAD’s IP67-rated battery-powered tracker for unpowered assets where a hardwired power connection isn’t available, delivered through EROAD’s partnership with Phillips Connect. Configurable operating modes let users balance battery life against reporting frequency based on the asset type and deployment scenario. Orbital installs AssetTrac as part of full EROAD fleet deployments, with correct physical mounting, device registration, and GPS validation confirmed before any asset goes into service. A tracker that’s loosely mounted or registered incorrectly produces location data you can’t trust when you actually need it.

Why Hardwired Installation Matters for EROAD

The Ehubo is designed to be tamper-evident, and that design intent is only realized when the device is installed correctly. A loose or incorrectly secured Ehubo is a data quality problem and a compliance vulnerability. EROAD’s compliance documentation makes clear that non-ECM installations produce specific failure modes that a proper ECM-connected installation avoids entirely.

Orbital integrates EROAD hardware directly into the vehicle’s electrical system using the correct ECM interface for each vehicle type, OEM-safe wiring practices, and proper fusing for each make and model. Devices are mounted securely, positioned out of reach where required, and confirmed to be communicating with the EROAD platform before the vehicle leaves the bay.

For Clarity dashcam installations, Orbital’s post-install QC process includes an AI-assisted photo review — with a human reviewer in the loop — validating camera positioning against EROAD’s cab-specific alignment requirements. A camera that’s mounted to the wrong part of the windshield, or at the wrong angle for a particular cab configuration, produces a field of view that misses what it was installed to capture. Getting the installation right is the only way to protect the integrity of the video evidence on which the program depends.

TaskRaptor: Deployment Governance Across Every Vehicle and Asset

An EROAD deployment covering heavy-duty trucks, light commercial vehicles, trailers, and reefer assets involves multiple hardware categories with different installation requirements and different compliance stakes. Inconsistency across any of them shows up as data gaps in MyEROAD, and at fleet scale, small gaps compound quickly. Orbital governs every installation through TaskRaptor, its proprietary deployment platform built to bring structure and accountability to large fleet hardware rollouts.

TaskRaptor tracks every step of the installation workflow in real time, with GPS-stamped, photo-verified proof of work for each completed vehicle and asset. An AI-assisted QC review process — with a human in the loop — flags issues before vehicles are signed off, not after. All job data flows into customer back-office systems through RESTful APIs, giving fleet managers and compliance administrators a complete deployment record across every device in the program.

A consistent process for every vehicle and asset:

  • Pre-deployment fleet assessment and hardware verification across device categories
  • Vehicle-specific installation planning, including ECM interface selection, cab configuration for dashcam positioning, and sensor pairing requirements
  • Secure mounting and electrical integration that protects vehicle systems and warranties
  • ECM connection confirmation and post-install data flow validation
  • Dashcam positioning validation with AI-assisted QC photo review and human sign-off
  • Device registration and MyEROAD platform confirmation for every installed device
  • Vehicles and assets returned to service only after successful validation
